The word prophetic as we use it within Voices of Christ means to exemplify the characteristics of a biblical prophet. A prophet is defined in scriptures as someone who hears and relays the divine will of God to others. The word that is released or relayed by that person in written or oral form is called prophecy.

Therefore, you can conclude that a prophetic scribe is simply a born again believer who writes the words God speaks to their spirit. So when a prophetic scribe writes, he or she is writing from a finger or the hand of God. The bible tells us that EVERY believer in the body of Christ has been given the gift of prophesy and has the God given ability to prophesy. However, not every believer has been chosen to be a prophetic scribe.

Acts 2:16-18 says, But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on my menservants and on my maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.

Scribes who have been called into the ministry of prophetic writing will have a strong, unquenchable desire to hear the voice of our Father and write his words either on an administrative, instructional or creative level. Along with this passion comes two other attributes that are mentioned frequently in the scriptures: urgency and zeal.

While there are many people who write, a scribe is constantly receiving instructions "to complete writing assignments" constantly from the Lord. For example, someone who occasionally writes a poem, and then months or years pass by and they never write anything else is probably not a scribe. The Lord, however, may use anyone to release a word through pen an ink. As soon as a true scribe completes one assignment or writes one poem or short story, the Lord has already given them another assignment.

There are many people who have never been interested in writing, but ONE DAY they awoke writing and haven't been able to stop. This is a CALL from God for a scribal assignment in the Kingdom of Heaven. It is important to distinguish between those who are "called" and those who are simply being used by God for a specific assignment.
