PROPHETIC COMMENTARY/REVIEW
By VOC President Theresa Harvard Johnson |
Exodus 19:4
You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I
bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself.
This poem is from the heart of God. It confirms many
of the great revelations coming from men and women
who are sold out for the gospel of Jesus Christ. In
it, I see a heart cry for God's people to GET BACK
ON THE PATH that the Lord originally set for them.
There are so, so many believers who are full of
hurt, bitterness and anger.... and they have allowed
"these inward distractions" to take them away from
their intimate and obedient place of
dominion and authority with God. The cares of this
world have pulled them from the high place.
This section of the poem, Dying Eagles, stands out
most in this season:
The free wings that once soared
Above clouds, over earth and sea and
Through rain
Eyes now closed
No more flight
No longer able to see into the night
Once majestic they flew
Now weighted down with cares
Who cares?
I am reminded of how each one of us start out
EXCITED AND FULL OF ZEAL FOR THE LORD. But as we
mature and grow -- if we are not careful, we begin
begin looking at people and take our eyes off of the
Lord. We begin focusing on SELF, and before long ...
it's like, "Whatever..."
And that weight ... it drags down the ministry on
the inside. It puts out the fire that once burned on
the inside of us, and hardens our hearts to the
things of God -- especially spiritual direction,
prophetic wisdom, correction and insight. Then,
people become blinded ... and lose sight of the very
"ministry" JESUS. Our spiritual eyes grow dim, and a
spiritual death begins to take place. Oh how easy
it is to forget what the Lord has done for us and
where he brought us from! OH HOW EASY it is
to forget that the reason for EVERYTHING is in the
blood of Jesus Christ!
Revelation 8:13
Then I [looked and I] saw a solitary eagle flying
in midheaven, and as it flew I heard it crying
with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe to those who
dwell on the earth, because of the rest of
the trumpet blasts which the three angels are about
to sound!
What the Lord spoke through through this prophetic
poem is so profound. YES, there is a command and
need to pray (2 Chronicles 7:14). These EAGLES MUST
RISE! God needs them to deliver the message of Jesus
Christ. There is a cry for unity, order, and
alignment here.
This poem is a treasure. Let's get on the wall and
pray that the Kingdom of Heaven is established in
the hearts of men.

DYING EAGLES
By

Majestic they
once flew
Over and above stormy clouds
Rain, earth and sea
Able to soar high and swoop low
Once able to see that others
Could not see
Able to spread wings at length
Able to be king of other foul
But then…
They got covered up
In waste that replaced
The free wings that once soared
Above clouds, over earth and see and
Through rain
Eyes now closed
No more flight
No longer able to see into the night
Once majestic they flew
Now weighted down with cares
Who cares?
We should because these eagles
Are in the body of Christ
Dying and trying to live for God
But got lost in the waste of activities
That consumed their lives
Didn't they know this would happen?
Maybe, maybe not
They probably forgot
Who they were and lost their way
Shall we pray?
That eagles return to their post
To soar again
To see what they were meant to see
To be what they were meant to be
Majestic in stature
Strong in sight
Able to fly into the night
Oh seers see again!
Fly again! Take flight!
Be not conformed!
Do what is right!
