Matthew 28:18-20: "And Jesus came and
spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and
on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I
am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
1. Who can join VOC?
VOC is writing group that focuses on nurturing the prophetic writing
gifts of Christians. Our membership includes those who have a desire to
fully embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
2. What are VOC's basic biblical beliefs?
We encourage you to read our
Faith Statement.
3. What makes VOC different from other Christian Literary
Organizations or writers groups?
Many Christian writing groups and organizations focus almost exclusively
on developing or enhancing a writer's skills and talents; assisting them
advancing in performance or marketing, publishing and promoting a their
projects. While VOC believes that these areas are important, we
think it is of greater importance for writer's to walk under "The
Scribal Anointing," which is a scribal lifestyle dedicated to fulfilling
God's original intent and purposes for writing in the Kingdom of Heaven.
We nurture the scribal ministry of the Christian writer, to birth the
pure, uncompromising Voice of the Lord on the inside of them. We mentor,
train and equip writer's from a God-perspective.
We believe a lifestyle built on Godly character and integrity is far
better, than a lifestyle built on talent and skill, and personal
success. A balanced believer is an effective believer in the Kingdom of
God. As a result, others who need to hear the gospel message will not be
misled or presented a false picture of Christ.
4. Does VOC focus only on poetry?
Originally, VOC focused exclusively on nurturing the prophetic writing
gifts of poets and spoken word artists. This group of Christian writers
is generally overlooked and counted out in the body of Christ. Over the
years however, we have opened the doors to all forms of creative
writing, with poetry still being a primary component of who we are.
5. How do I start a local chapter in my area?
The first step to starting a chapter in your area is to join and
participate regularly in the online group,
The Scribal Anointing.
Your participation in this group will give you great insight into
understanding who we are and how we operate in the Kingdom of Heaven.
If, after regular fellowship, you determine that you would like to be an
integral part of the VOC mission, purpose and vision, then the next step
is to become a paid member of the
National Chapter. At that time, you can make your request known by
contacting the National Director or one of our existing directors and
move into our leadership training program from there. We generally have
"How To Start A VOC" information session at least once each year during
the Spring/Summer months.
6. What is a writing coach or writing
mentor?
Generally speaking, a writing coach or mentor is personal guide who
walks with you as you move through your various writing projects. They
keep you on task and accountable, encouraged and have expertise on
multiple levels that can bring your project to a successful completion.
VOC, however, recognizes two categories of writing coaches/mentors: 1.
Those who focus on writing from a skill oriented and marketable
perspective; and 2. Those who focus on writing from God's perspective,
and then the skill and marketing.
The director's within VOC are active writing coaches who mentor
others from God's perspective.
6. What are the benefits of joining VOC?
For an overview of member benefits, please visit our
membership page.
7. What is prophetic writing or Christian prophetic writing?
Prophetic writing as defined by VOC is writing that is inspired by the
Holy Spirit with a single purpose of leading others into the presence of
God. Prophetic writers literally "write" what they hear the Spirit of
the Lord speak into their hearts.
While other religions also claim a practice of prophetic writing, the
VOC speaks specifically to the nature of prophecy as defined in the
complete Holy Bible. For further insight, please purchase
"The Scribal Anointing."
8. What is a Christian prophetic scribe?
A Christian prophetic scribe, also called a prophetic writer, is someone
who writes the prophetic word of the Lord that is inspired by God as
mentioned in the previous question.
