SCRIBUS
Scribus is an open-source program that brings award winning professional
layout and design to Linux/Unix, MacOS X, and Windows desktops with a
combination of "press-ready" output and new approaches to page layout.
Scribus supports professional publishing features such as CMYK color,
separations, ICC color management and versatile PDF creation, enabling
you to output a project in the resolution and formats needed for
professional printing.
INKSCAPE
Inscape is an open-source, vector graphics editor with capabilities
similar to Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw or Xara X using the W3C
standard and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format.
THE GIMP
The Gimp is an open-source image manipulation software for windows that
is quite similar to programs like Adobe Photoshop. Features include
photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.
MiKTEX
Typeset beautiful pages with this free open-source program. Two
additional programs needed including GhostScript & WinEdit. It's good to
download these programs anyway, as SCRIBUS also uses GhostScript.

A 3D modeling and character animation program.
PHOTOFILTRE
PhotoFiltre Studio is a
complete image retouching program. It allows you to do simple or advanced
adjustments to an image and apply a vast range of filters on it. It is simple
and intuitive to use, and has an easy learning curve. The toolbar, giving you
access to the standard filters with just a few clicks, gives PhotoFiltre
Studio a robust look. PhotoFiltre Studio also has layer manager (with
Alpha channel), advanced brushes, nozzles (or tubes), red eye corrector, batch
module and lot of other powerful tools.
